WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

At the time, I called it a 'Bigfoot' because, frankly, that was the only way I could have described it. It wasn't human...it wasn't an ape. For over 30 years my encounter with this being has left a strange hole in my understanding of nature and reality. I have tried to comprehend exactly what it was I witnessed.

Graham's Gonzo Blog updates for Saturday

In Jon's continuing absence, Graham's manning the shiny Gonzo Mixing Desk!

Today's weather is even worse than yesterday's, which makes me pleased Gonzo's area of activity is the music industry, rather than hedgerow-planting or roof repairs.

So, today's Gonzo updates have been completed without a single raindrop landing on me:

There's a Polish review of the Rick Wakeman CD, In The Nick Of Time, but worry not - it's been translated:
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/link-polish-rick-wakeman-review.html

We have a review of the recent Hawkwind gig in Southampton, but it's not by me; it's by a bloke called HelmStone:

Jefferson Airplane's Grace Slick on aging rock stars, drugs, and life as a painter:

Jon Downes on how Captain Beefheart contributed to possibly his greatest achievement....

News that should please Zappa fans:
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/60-frank-zappa-albums-to-be-released.html

And an editorial from Gonzo's Jon about his musical tastes. Brace yourself:

Hmmm, I see that last item doesn't mention Scott Walker. I like to retire to a safe distance when he's playing that stuff, to be quite honest.

Anyway, Cheers for now.
Graham.

OLL LEWIS brings us Yesterday's News Today

Yesterday’s News Today

On this day in 1982 actress Missy Peregrym was born. She is best known for her roles in 'Reaper' and 'Heroes' both of which are rather good tv shows with a paranormal flavour.

And now the news:
I'm convinced nobody reads the bit with the video link:
