WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

Perry is a town in Wyoming County, New York. As nearly as I can ascertain, a “Wyoming Times” newspaper served Wyoming County, New York until the 1970s. The reference below to the Wyoming Times does not mean any newspaper in the state of Wyoming. TheWyoming Times citation, and all else below, originates from a book published in 1915:History of the Town of Perry, New York, by Frank D. Roberts and Carl G. Clarke. As of this writing, the book is available as a free download via Google Books.

I'M YER GONZO BLOG DOO-DAH MAN

I think that it is interesting that although my tastes have broadened over the past thirty years, they haven't changed much. I remember on my father's 53rd birthday he sat down to watch a Bob Hope film that he had first seen during the war when he was a young man. He laughed uproariously at jokes that I didn't think were funny at all. For my birthday this week, Corinna gave me a DVD box set of 'The Young Ones', and I have been cackling maniacally at a parade of unltra violence and bottom jokes. Am I, like my father before me, reliving my lost youth? Or am I just a retarded adolescent who still finds bodily functions amusing? Answers on a postcard please...

Growing up is somewhat of a theme today, because coming soon are the next two acoustic reimaginings of early Daintees albums, by the effervescent Martin Stephenson. I enjoyed his reworking of his debut 'Boat to Bolivia' very much indeed, and I am very much looking forward to 'Salutation Road' and 'A Boys Heart'.

Warren Huart is an accomplished record producer, possibly best known for his work with Aerosmith. However, he has also worked with Mimi Page, and it was on her Facebook POage that I found the front cover of this magazine, justly celebrating Warren's work.

I got up quite early this morning, secure in the knowledge that it is a wet Bank Holiday Monday, and that nobody is likely to telephone or knock on the door. I had a happy hour or so pootling about the internet, and whilst doing so I found this rather spiffing cache of Mimi Page songs.

Jon Anderson really is undergoing a creative renaissance at the moment; there is absolutely no stopping the man. He has released another new song, and has a whole slew of new music (and a South American tour) in the works. Here is a link to a very revealing interview..

Do you want to listen to Rick Wakeman on New Zealand radio? If so, your prayers have been answered.

And finally; I know that it is completely off-topic as far as Gonzo Multimedia is concerned, but sometimes I post things that I think will interest you all. This is one of those times; a candid and revealing interview with Roger Waters courtesy of those jolly nice people at 'Neptune Pink Floyd'.

And that is it. We shall be back tomorrow.

LINK: Robert Fairless, The Bigfoot Whisperer - A Change Of Heart

I pride myself on reporting the facts. Factual evidence is the most important thing in proving the existence of Bigfoot or any other cryptid. Sometimes there is more to the story than just the facts. I recently published two articles on Robert Fairless, The Bigfoot Whisperer. Those articles were strictly based on the facts. I neglected to look into the man himself. I have now spoken with Rob on a few occasions and have had a revelation! Rob is a good guy, he is out to have a little fun and that’s it. My facts pointed in the direction of a possible hoaxer, a guy making a mockery of real researchers, or someone out to simply gain fame. None of those things seem to really be the case. Rob wants to be taken seriously just like any other researcher but he also wants to have a little fun doing so, I see no problem with that.
