WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

CRYPTOLINK: Bigfoot Sighting In San Antonio TX Sparks 911 Call

http://paranormalutopia.com/2012/12/bigfoot-in-san-antonio-tx-sparks911/

This is an interesting 911 call that happened in 2009 after a Bigfoot sighting in San Antonio, Texas in the USA.  It’s not released to the public.  From the video description:

November 30, 2009 Sighting of Bigfoot in San Antonio Texas – News Report and 911 Call.   A homeless couple living in the woods spotted a Bigfoot creature dragging a deer. San Antonio police have released a 911 dispatch call reporting a “Bigfoot” sighting. The audio recording between a dispatcher and the homeless couple lasts more than eight minutes. In it, the primary caller appears sober and deliberate as she describes the beast Nov. 30.

And I know you guys are going to think I’m crazy, but I’m dead serious,” she says on the recording. “This big thing was 75 feet away from me, smelled awful, devoured a whole deer carcass, and then took off and screamed, screeched, and took off across the street. I’m going to tell you right now, I’ve lived in the woods six years. Swear to God, I’ve never seen nothing like this. I’m 6’3″; it’s bigger than me, said her 63-year old husband. The couple claims the creature walked upright as it carried the deer carcass off into the woods.

What do you think?  Do you think one of these creatures could exist in San Antonio?  Do you have any similar sightings to share with us?

CRYPTOLINK: ‘Giant serpent’ invades island near Phuket

PHUKET: Mysterious giant tracks appeared overnight on Friday (December 14) on Koh Mai Pai (Bamboo Island, just north of Phi Phi), emerging from the forest, going through the local school and then into the sea, leaving students, parents and teachers worrying that they were made by some enormous serpent.

The tracks consisted of a long line of pairs of circles, each circle 20 centimetres in diameter. Local experts estimated that the serpent that made the tracks must be at least 15 metres long.
Pannee Atwaree, a teacher at the school, said that the islanders’ fear was ratcheted up by theories that the appearance of the tracks might be an omen of the great disaster some have been predicting for next Friday (December 21) when the Mayan calendar – and possibiy the world – comes to an end.

*  The Gonzo Daily is a two way process. If you have any news or want to write for us, please contact me at jon@eclipse.co.uk. If you are an artist and want to showcase your work, or even just say hello please write to me at gonzo@cfz.org.uk. Please copy, paste and spread the word about this magazine as widely as possible. We need people to read us in order to grow, and as soon as it is viable we shall be invading more traditional magaziney areas. Join in the fun, spread the word, and maybe if we all chant loud enough we CAN stop it raining. See you tomorrow...

*  The Gonzo Daily is - as the name implies - a daily online magazine (mostly) about artists connected to the Gonzo
Multimedia group of companies. But it also has other stuff as and when the editor feels like it. The same team also do a weekly newsletter called - imaginatively - The Gonzo Weekly. Find out about it at this link: http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/11/all-gonzo-news-wots-fit-to-print.html
*  Jon Downes, the Editor of all these ventures is an old hippy of 53 who - together with his orange cat - puts it all together from a converted potato shed in a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his bulldog/boxer Prudence, his mother-in-law, and a motley collection of social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the orange cat?

AN OPEN LETTER TO THOM THE WORLD POET

Dear Thom,

What you did yesterday was very very sweet, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Helen Taylor and her three children (to whom I am Uncle Jon, and have been for years) were distraught when their dog Travis was put to sleep on Monday. I posted about it on the various blogs, but both Helen and I were very touched by the poem you wrote yesterday.
Thank you my dear friend...

DEATH OF A PET

there is a love unique between
the owner and the non-ownee
(a cat is always free-as mermaids
wedded to the sea)
so when dis-ease  reduces capacity
high rise all vet fees/until mortality
steals breath and energy-
enervating,deflating,diminishing
one who is precious
into a bare facsimile
ghost shadow-loved yet not
capable of responding
Tears come in.Departing,grieving begins
even before that warm body is cold fur
And your ghost love-special,unique-
floats away to Pet Paradise
(You wanted so much that they might stay
All that is loved must leave
We all go away.

OLL LEWIS: Yesterday's News Today

Yesterday’s News Today

On this day in 1967 Australian Prime Minister Harold Holt was officially presumed dead. Holt had gone missing two days before while swimming and no body has ever been found. Conspiracy theorists at the time suggested he might have been abducted by a UFO or a submarine, but then at least one conspiracy theorist would probably insist he had been gummed to death by cane toads which were being mind controlled by the New World Order if he had gone missing on land.
